Get creative with your cocktail ingredients and garnish to perfection.

Whether you’re looking to gather the girls, supply a dinner party icebreaker, or switch up date night; getting creative (or even a little competitive) with cocktails is a great way to mix up the fun…and better yet, it’s really easy!

Step 1: Choose fun or flavoursome ingredients to rim your glasses.

Grab a couple of saucers and lay out your chosen ingredients. Rimming the glass can be as simple or as creative as you like. Mix and match with citrus, sugar and salt, or add some sprinkles or edible glitter for an extra special touch. The options are endless…

A few easy ideas to get you started:

Step 2: Gather what you need to make your favourite cocktails.

Cocktails can sometimes seem a daunting concept — multiple ingredients, mixers, juices…but they don’t have to be complicated. Using the ‘Golden Ratio’ allows you to use the same easy-to-remember formula to make different cocktails again and again.

2 parts (60ml) spirit (gin, vodka, bourbon, rum, tequila…)
1 part (30ml) sour (lemon, lime, grapefruit…)
1 part (30ml) sweet (gomme syrup, honey, liqueurs, fruit syrup…)

Step 3: Forage for flowers, slice some citrus & snip some herbs.

Cocktails should look good. Always. And what better way to dress your drink than with some insta-worthy garnishes. Look no further than the herbs growing on the bench or the flowers in your garden. A sprig of fresh herbs across the top of your glass or a bit of floating flora will add interest, colour and the ‘wow’ factor to your drink.

Again, simplicity is key — don’t underestimate the effect of adding a simple sprig of mint or citrus slice to your cocktail, especially if you’ve gone for an extravagant glass rim. Less is more as they say!

*When adding anything flavourful as a garnish -herbs, a citrus twist or slice etc-just keep in mind they may add to or alter the flavour of your drink.

Step 4: Get mixing!

Prep the rim, shake up your cocktails and dress that drink! Get creative, a little competitive, and most importantly — have fun!
